Constable Shawa from Midrand’s Centre recognised at province’s excellence award ceremony

Constable Lebohang Shawa, who was bestowed with a runner-up award for visible policing, vows to work even harder to fight crime.

Constable Lebohang Shawa believes that winning the first runner-up of Levels 3–7 categories for visible policing will make her work even harder. The award was given to her during the annual Gauteng Excellence Awards.

Shawa (41) is a member of the Gauteng 10111 Command Centre in Randjespark, Midrand. She says she loves her job dearly and will not rest on her laurels following her accolade.

Shawa is grateful and appreciative to the South African Police Services management for recognising the value she has put into her work. “I am very happy to receive the award as the first runner-up in the province. It is really a motivation that will make me work even harder to achieve even more while ensuring that we protect citizens from criminality elements,” said Shawa.

She is passionate and diligent about her work and hopes the award will motivate her colleagues as well.

Her excellent service means Shawa has now been recognised twice this year. In April, she was awarded a certificate of commendation by the Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Elias Mawela after she played a critical role in the successful arrest of a suspect who was wanted for hijacking. She said through her commitment and dedication, she ensured that the victim was supported and assisted during the traumatic ordeal of being hijacked while searching for the suspect.
