Region A’s regional director Abigail Ndlovu apologises for poor service in Midrand

Harry Galaun Road water project is set to be completed by the end of November, while the Le Roux Road water project will be completed by December 12.

Region A director Abigail Ndlovu has apologised to Midrand residents for long overdue unfinished projects.

This comes after Ward 132 councillor Annette Deppe complained ‘day and night’ to Ndlovu that Joburg Water’s water pipe projects – one on Le Roux Avenue and one on Harry Galaun Drive – should have been completed months ago. Deppe added that residents also complained about water leaks from the pipes and road damage.

Seeing how the delay in completing these projects impacts residents during Ndlovu’s oversight visit to the area on November 9, she urged both water project managers to complete the work before the year’s end.

“I am happy that the residents are here. We apologise for what we have done here, we have de-serviced you and we are taking the blame and will correct it. The only way to make sure that we correct our mistakes is to make sure we monitor these projects.”

These were both emergency projects that began last year and were scheduled for six months. The project on Harry Galaun Drive is now set to be completed by the end of November, while the Le Roux Road water project is scheduled to be completed by December 12.

Ndlovu said residents have suffered enough from a lack of services and she promises to appoint people who are willing to work for the community – adding that she will also be out on the streets more frequently.
