Curro Midrand Sagewood Grade 7 learners had to plan their market day which forms an integral part of their economic and management sciences curriculum.
The market day on September 19 was not just about setting up stalls and selling food and other items. Weeks and weeks of planning had gone into this venture from the learners choosing their group members, doing market research with their potential customers, costing, and mark-ups to identifying potential risks. They had to also pay for their stalls, hair nets, and gloves.
Curro’s marketing manager Kayla Wolmarans said the learners were well organised on the day. “They catered to the whole school’s needs. The rest of the learners had more fun walking around and purchasing different types of food, goods, and services,” said Wolmarans.
“The learners’ worst moment was when they realised that they also had to clean up after the day was done.”
Wolmarans concluded the learners learned many valuable lessons that they would remember for a long time to come.
