Local security company Ria Sebetsa’s 24/7 control room received calls from the community on August 24 requesting urgent assistance at a local shopping centre.
A security company team was immediately dispatched to the shopping centre and upon arrival, they found that there had been a snatch and grab incident in which the suspects attempted to flee the scene.
The team acted swiftly and managed to apprehend a male and female suspect. Midrand police were later contacted and the suspects were handed over to the police.
Midrand police under the command of Acting Station Commander Colonel Hosea Mantji confirm the arrest of the two suspects.
“A male and female were arrested for theft common, and reckless and negligence driving,” said Midrand police spokesperson Constable Eliot Mabulane.
“The suspects will be charged and be brought before the court. Detectives will profile the suspects for further linking to other crimes.”
Midrand police commended the good work done by the security company and other parties to help apprehend the suspects.
