Young model continues to inspire and make a difference in Midrand community

The 22-year-old says being a model is not only about wearing a crown and looking beautiful, but about being a voice for young children.

Women in the pageant industry aim to be stellar contributors to their communities, which includes serving as role models for other young women.

Local beauty model, Sanele Khuzwayo plays her part in Midrand communities with her sanitary pads drive to local orphanages and schools.

As a model who has been in the industry for quite some time, one thing that sticks out most for Khuzwayo is the opportunities that pageants provide her to give back to the community.

The skills honed in contests like eloquence, sympathy, resiliency, and confidence are crucial life skills parents would love to see in their daughters – and Khuzwayo believes she has those skills.

“I believe that giving back to the less fortunate is a good way of showing love and compassion, hence, I have collected sanitary pads that I will be donating to local schools and orphanages,” she said.

Khuzwayo hopes to make an even greater difference in her community with more donations that are essential for the less privileged, and by continuing to be a role model to `young girls’.

Local Model Sanele Khuzwayo has been donating sanitary pads to local orphanages.

She is currently a Miss Passionate Gauteng finalist and a Miss Gauteng Exclusive semi-finalist and wants to win both pageants. “My main focus now is the Miss Passionate Gauteng pageants as they are taking place before the Miss Gauteng Exclusive although the votes are coming in slowly.”

She defines being a model as not only being about wearing a crown and looking beautiful but as being a voice for the young models to keep away from substance abuse and look after their bodies.

Sanele says there are always struggles that most models face and advises young upcoming models to make friends as friendships are the cornerstone of pageantry. “While young girls may face teasing at school, they can find a community of like-minded friends at a pageant.”
