The IIE’s Varsity College Waterfall students take part in an intercampus cook-off

The cook-off was streamed live on Capsicum Culinary Studio’s Instagram page for friends and family to watch.

The IIE’s Varsity College Waterfall recently participated in an intercampus cook-off against The IIE’s Varsity College Durban North.

Chef John Mathi of Capsicum Culinary Studio together with the fierce teams of students of Waterfall and Durban North College were up for the challenge of cooking the main course of prawn curry with green peas, pilaf and papadums.

The Waterfall College team brought ‘soul’ to the recipe by dancing as they were cooking up a storm. “My favourite moment was when the students were done with their final dishes and presented these in line with modern trends,” said Mathi.

“The food was great and the day was engaging with excellent participation. You can tell the students were super focused on creating their best dish whilst having serious fun.”

The cook-off was streamed live on Capsicum Culinary Studio’s Instagram page for friends and family to watch.

Waterfall College’s public relations and events coordinator Nicolien Kriek said, “This was The IIE’s Varsity College Waterfall’s first cook-off against another Varsity College Campus and we look forward to having many more.”
