A suspect was arrested for being in possession of drugs and about 57 traffic fines were issued to motorists amounting to R30 080 during an Okae Molao operation.
The operation was held on September 7 and 8 on Allandale Road in Midrand.
Also two suspects were arrested for dealing in liquor without a trading licence.
Rabie Ridge police spokesperson Sergeant Dipolelo Moremi said, “The types of drugs found included mandrax [21 tablets], crystal meth [93] and methcathinone also know as CAT [25]. In order to fight crime in our communities, we will continue with such operations as they make a huge impact in terms of fighting crime in our communities.”
According to the Ekurhuleni District communication officer Captain Neldah Sekgobela, the operation was conducted in conjunction with various law enforcement agencies and was attended by district Commissioner Major General Anna Sithole.
“We will not tolerate any acts of criminality and at all times we shall uphold and enforce without hesitation. The public informants also play a critical role in providing necessary and relevant information to the authorities which always results in successful arrests,” said Sekgobela.
Sithole said she was pleased with the success of the operation and that having more of them would help fight crime.
She commended the SAPS members and other law enforcement agencies in the battle to curb criminal activities.
