Acting Station Commander lauds two police officers

A community member shares the wonderful service she received at Midrand Police Station.

When Lunga Botha visited the Midrand Police Station to open a fraud case, the service from the men in blue left her in awe.

Botha was still in shock after being scammed out of R15 000 as she entered the station on a cold morning on August 22. She described her ordeal of being scammed as the ‘worst situation ever’.

While Constable Geral Bokamoso Seema and Sergeant Tsundzuka Abe Maluleke assisted her to open a fraud docket, they noticed she was shaking from the freezing weather conditions.

“At my service were Constable GB Seema and Sergeant TA Maluleke. Upon Sergeant Maluleke noticing the state I was in, he invited me to come inside to sit down in front of a heater while Constable Seema continued to help me. When I left the station, I felt like the issue was resolved already. Their pleasant faces and great attitudes gave me peace, considering the state I was in,” said Botha.

She said she had previously heard stories about poor service by some stations, however, at the Midrand station, she met good officers who are focused on doing their job with diligence. Botha said she received ‘out-of-this-world service’.

Station spokesperson Constable Eliot Mabulane confirmed that a case of fraud was opened and is being probed. “A R15 000 fraud case was opened at the Midrand police on August 22, and it is currently under investigation. The complainant wanted to rent a property but the person who scammed her is not the owner of the property she wanted to rent,” said Mabulane.

Seema said, “I appreciate the positive comments that have been made about my service. It is not a lot of people who see the good work we do as the police. Police work is not only about dealing with criminals out there, but to ensure that we provide quality service to our community.”

Maluleke added, “I feel honoured and humbled by these positive remarks which have built a new character in me. This serves as a motivation to my other colleagues to be positive and serve the community with an open mind, irrespective of who they are.”

Acting Station Commander Colonel Hosea Mantji heaped praise on the two officers. “Members’ efforts and good work will be appreciated officially to encourage them to continue doing good and encourage others to uphold Batho Pele [people first] principles,” concluded Mantji.
