Q: What do you like about your town?
A: The diverse culture that comes with the mixed population residing here. Also, there are lots of young professionals and young business people which makes it easier for me to relate.

Q: What is your favourite place to chill in your town and why?
A: I am an outdoor person who likes socialising and supporting local businesses so I go to Zenis Car Wash in Noordwyk when I have time.

Q: What are some of the advantages of living in your town?
A: Its proximity to the highway and it is situated in the centre between Pretoria and Sandton. It has some easy access and exit travelling to and from. Also, it’s a stone’s throw away from communities like Tembisa and Alexandra.

Q: What was it like when you first got to Midrand and how long have you lived here?
A: I got here in 2003 while it was still affordable to live here (laughs)… it has now become expensive to live here. I have seen this place developing into a state-of-the-art business attraction which I believe is a good thing.

Q: What do you think is the most important thing about Midrand?
A: I think like many other communities, it is important to co-exist with people of different beliefs, backgrounds and sexual preferences. Here you get such and people live in harmony.

Q: What is the best season to visit your town and why?
A: All year round because the climate is subtropical.

Q: What place in your town can one visit with family and enjoy?
A: Lory Park Zoo is a sanctuary established in 2000 offering close-up encounters with animals. There’s also some animal feeding happening.

Q: Why should people visit your town?
A: There are a couple of things depending on one’s taste really. Fashionistas can experience top-tier shopping in the Mall of Africa, There is Kyalami race track for adrenaline junkies in premier motor racing and for the after-hours and night lifestyle you will be spoiled for choices with places like Shanty Town, Perere, and Luxx. The Rooftop Market at Boulders shopping centre also allows for different types of activities and types of food.

Q: What are the main attractions in your town?
A: We have a couple of landmarks including the largest conference centre in South Africa, the largest single-phase shopping centre built in Africa and the largest mosque in South Africa. There are other things like some of the government headquarters adjacent to the N1 highway.

Q: If you could change one thing in your town, what would you change?
A: It will have to be the peak hour traffic. For me that is unbearable. Luckily I hardly travel during peak hours.
