Midstream College learner Adam Langson tops the regional high school quiz to reach the national grand final

The learner will compete at the National Grand Finale in Durban on October 1.

Adam Langson, a Grade 11 Midstream College learner won the recent Gauteng Regional National High Schools Quiz hosted by IIE’s Varsity College Sandton on August 31.

Adam will be flown down by the Sandton college to compete in the National Grand Finale to be held in Durban on October 1.

“The competition was good in this regional round and I look forward to going through to the National Grand Finale,” said Adam.

The quiz questions focused on geography, history, science and nature, sport, entertainment, and current affairs and Adam scored an astonishing 44 correct answers out of 62 questions.

In the first round of the annual National High School Quiz at The IIE’s Varsity College Waterfall, Adam scored 52 correct answers out of 62 questions.

The national winner will receive a cash prize of R10 000, the school of the national winner will receive R10 000, and the teacher or coach of the national winner will receive R5 000.

The second prize winner at nationals will receive a cash prize of R6 000 and R3 000 for their teacher or coach while the third prize winner will receive R3 000 and R1 500 for their teacher or coach.

The schools of the second and third prize winners will receive a cash prize of R6 000 each.
