Afro-pop star to delve into other genres

Sibahle Cele says she will not rest on her laurels and is adamant to learn as much as she can in her music journey while exploring other genres.

Newly signed Ambitioz Entertainment sensation Sibahle Cele did not waste time making her presence felt, releasing a hip-hop banger iPiki (pickaxe).

Cele (24), whose stage name is Sbahle, joined the Waterfall City-based record label on August 19 from her previous label, Umuthi Records. She has previously released four singles – Emlanjeni (In the river), Ngiyazefela (I am in love), Amen and Let it Rain.

Sibahle Cele is eager to make a name for herself in the music industry.

Cele (24) featured two hip-hop superstars Thato ‘Wave Rhyder’ Molupe and Mlungisi in her song.

Describing her new release, Sbahle said this was to show her versatility as she was known for singing Afro-pop songs.

“I believe I’ve grown music-wise because about two years ago, I could not write a song but now I can. And to prove that I was not lying when I said I was versatile, I released this [iPiki] hip-hop hit. The meaning behind the title of the song is to say this is a new beginning for me and I am here to work…and just doing what I love which is music,” said Cele.

iPiki hit-maker, Sibahle Cele is ready to take the music industry by storm.

Currently living in Waterfall but originally from Umlazi in KwaZulu-Natal, Cele has been in music for some time as she comes from a musical family.

She said her grandfather was a guitarist and nurtured her talent from an early age as he saw potential in her.
She said joining the Durban-based group Afro Divas when she was in Grade 10, had made her more confident to perform.

Sibahle Cele releases her fifth single in her music career.

Cele concluded she listened to the likes of Nicky Minaj and Cardi B.
