Dreamhill International Primary held its annual science fair.
More than 50 Grade 3 to 7 learners participated and presented various science and technology topics. The Grade 3s focused on natural disasters, Grade 4s focused on circuits, Grade 5s unpacked the science of sound and light, Grade 6s had the theme of aerodynamics and Grade 7s used recycled items in technology.
Grade 7 learner and head girl Anuhya Beerevally won first place for her project on lift bridge hydraulics.
Grade 5 learner Ayola Mulaudzi scooped second place for her project on light projection and Grade 5 learner Sujith Velegeti’s project on solar energy for aeroplanes placed third.
Science fair host and teacher Meghann Bailie said the science projects showed learners’ ambition, demonstrating their high standard of academic intelligence, knowledge and attainment.
“Dreamhill would like to thank the three judges who evaluated each project, from judge Aurelie Msiza – Miss Galaxy South Africa – who is currently studying computer science in Tennessee, America; Jean-Luc Cilliers as our second outside judge studying computer science at Eduvos private university in Midrand. And our third attending judge Yankho Bhanda the Woman of Stature winner in the aerodynamics of engineering,” said Bailie.
