City Power to conduct meter audits around Midrand

City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena has warned the community that contractors will not be eligible to conduct meter audits and will only be done by City Power employees.

City Power’s Midrand Service Delivery Centre will embark on a meter audit programme in Midrand, Modderfontein and Greenstone areas.

Power utility spokesperson Isaac Mangena said the programme was important as it is aimed at attending to metering challenges raised by customers.

The programme will run from July 29 until August 10 and will target mostly residential complexes in the area specified.

Mangena said, “The aim is to gather data of both prepaid and post-paid meters, [and] know how many customers have or do not have meters, to ensure that we attend to the meters that are not vending.”

He urged the security companies and estate managers at residential complexes to allow City Power teams access to the areas that they will be auditing.

To guard against criminal activities, such as when criminals claim to be City Power employees, ‘the auditing programme will be done by only City Power employees, and not contractors’. They will be wearing full uniforms and will produce City Power ID cards.

“We have already notified the regional director and the councillors in the areas targeted for this programme, and appeal for cooperation from the customers.”

Should customers have any queries or want to confirm the identity of the technicians seeking to do the audit, contact City Power Risk Control on 011 490 7900 or 011 490 7911.
