Trio arrested in Kyalami for various crimes, including stolen vehicle

Three suspects are expected to appear in court after being found in possession of stolen vehicle and fake number plates.

Three suspects were arrested by members of Midrand police, Sector 4 Crime Forum, and security companies during a crime prevention patrol aimed at addressing hijacking incidents in the area.

Midrand police spokesperson Constable Eliot Mabulane said the suspects were found in possession of a stolen Toyota Fortuner which was hijacked in the area earlier this year.

“The suspects were found in possession of the vehicle, fraudulent registration [plates], car breaking implements and a computer box. It’s been about six months since the car was stolen but at the end we have seen the arrest and recovery of the vehicle which will come as a relief to the victim,” said Mabulane.

The suspects were due to appear in court.

The Midrand Police Station Acting Commander Colonel Hosea Mantji applauded the members for their swift response, and the good working relationship between ADT and Axon security companies, the Sector 4 Crime Forum and the community at large.

“We appreciate the work of all involved which includes going beyond your call of duty to join police in fighting crime. I think together we can be able to address crime and create a safer place for our community,” said Mantji.
Mantji gave a stern warning to the criminals that no matter how long the investigations took, at the end of the day they would be arrested.

He warned motorists to be extra cautious when driving to avoid being hijacked, and avoid parking in isolated areas.
