A weekend of comedy by a well known local comedian was a success

The Kyalami comedian had a sold-out audience in stitches, as did his fellow comedians.

Well-known Kyalami comedian David Kau of Kyalami recently hosted the Blacks Only comedy show weekend at Emperors Palace Convention Centre Court in Kempton Park.

The longest-running black comedy brand in South Africa, Blacks Only returned for two sell-out shows with the hilarious Kau in the driving seat as usual.

According to Kau, the show is about giving black comedians a platform to express themselves in any language that they want.

The comedy show was founded in 2004 and has been presented to more than a million South Africans in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban and Gqeberha.

Kau grew tired of the fact that there wasn’t a space for black stand-up comedians to showcase their work in their own language. So he conceptualised the show which started as a one-night-only affair, and now in its 18th year takes place three or four times a year.

In the latest show, Kau had the audience in stitches, as did his fellow comedians Dillan Oliphant, Khanyisa Bunu and Schalk Bezuidenhout.

Two sold-out shows took place on May 13 and 14, followed by a Chill Out session at Red Roman Shed on May 15 with a line-up of top DJs to close out the weekend in style.

Kau was joined by a host of well-known DJs such as Zinhle, Tbose, and Karyendasoul who kept the vibes laid back and relaxed throughout the afternoon and evening.
