Local dancer, actor, and model will represent SA New York

Although the scholarship covers some of the fees, he still has to pay some amount and he is looking for funding to help with his course expenses.

A Noordwyk-based multi-talented performer has recently received an opportunity to represent South Africa at the International Modelling and Talent Convention in New York (IMTA) in July this year.

Duran Moodley is a versatile and high-energy performer, an actor and an energetic Bollywood dancer.

Moodley has received a scholarship to attend AMDA College in New York, America. Although the scholarship covers some of the fees, he still has to pay some amount and he is looking for funding to help with his course expenses.

“The AMDA College scholarship means so much to me because it’s almost like a reward for my hard work, dedication to my craft,” Moodley said.

“It’s eye-opening to know that the Americans believe my talent is genuine even though I’ve been doing movies for a long time. I cannot wait to go to Los Angeles to study. It is a two-year acting course conservatory certificate.”

His performance was also aired on the Live Your Dreams TV show. Moodley received training during his high school years and performed in many high school productions where he received best actor awards.

Furthermore, he was the lead actor in Mammia Musical 2 by Roshan Singh Productions and has danced in many concert events featuring Bollywood singers including Shreya Ghoshal, Udit Narain, Mike Singh and Arjit Singh. In 2017, he graduated from Logasen Moodley Dance Company.

Recently, Duran performed at Gold Reef City in Shivani Kara’s extravagant dance show Kuch Kuch Happens, and he was also invited as a VIP guest performer in the 12th edition of the International Arts and Talent Showcase Africa auditions held at Melrose Arch.

Currently, he is hard at work in developing his craft by attending acting workshops and developing new dance choreography for the New York convention. He is also attending casting auditions to gain experience and he is looking to explore fashion as a male model.

Moodley is also a well-established software engineer but he hopes to focus on a full-time career in Hollywood and Bollywood.

He hopes to receive call-backs and network with casting directors at IMTA. Furthermore, in the future, he would like to open his own dance and acting studio to train, nurture, give guidance, and uplift South African artists.
