Midrand High School staged a dramatic fightback to thrash Hope Fountain Combined School 4–2 in a school league match played at Midrand High on April 26.

The match got off to a frenetic start for Midrand High, with Sikhanyile Nzima hitting the pole and the side-netting in the opening stages.

Although the hosts had the upper hand in ball possession, as the game wore on, the visitors began to create their own chances, but none troubled the Midrand High goalkeeper, Khanyi Mohithwa.

Hope Fountain took the lead after 30 minutes when Sechaba Sebusi finished from close range after a careless defence from Edgar Moloko’s boys.

Five minutes later, Pfanelo Masupa’s set-piece drew Midrand High level after Hope Fountains’ keeper, Mohau Musa, could not get a clean grip on the ball and let it fall into the back of the net.

Midrand High continued to assume control of the match, and Sikhanyile finally got his first goal of the match after beating Mohau in a one-on-one opportunity to make it 3–1.

Karabo was next on the scoresheet for Midrand High following a well-taken penalty just before Sechaba scored a second goal for Hope Fountain to end in a 4–2 scoreline.
