Mrs SA eager to learn

“The most important factor influencing a person's success, whether personal or professional is mind-set. It really boils down to what you think," said Kasongo.

The 2022 Mrs South Africa semi-finalist Marie Joelle Kasongo (38) believes every woman is beautiful and what excites her is that Mrs SA also believes in that idea.

A highly optimistic model Kasongo is eager to use this platform as an empowerment tool and hopes to partner with Mrs SA to change the perception and certain standards attached to the beauty pageants.

She said she found out about the pageant on social media and researched more about it before entering online in November last year.

“What attracted me the most was the fact Mrs SA redefines beauty. You don’t have to be a specific size, weight and height to be seen or considered beautiful. It is open to every woman and for me – that is a global image that we need to paint – every woman is beautiful. You don’t have to be a specific size to be beautiful.”

The Network Marketer from Vorna Valley who is a mother of three – two girls and a boy – said the support she is getting from her husband, children, friends and family meant a lot to her.

Kasongo said she was aware that she would encounter challenges and difficulties in her first-time modelling journey, but her goal was vying for the Mrs SA crown, and all the other mini crowns she will collect along the way.

The crowning of the 2022 Mrs South Africa will be held at Emperor’s Palace on November 11.
