To the rescue, come rain or shine

Using their sunlight soap, the inspectors approached the poor dog which was soaked through from standing in the rain for so long.

In the midst of the pouring rain on April 4, Midrand SPCA received a distress call from one of the community members regarding a trapped animal.

Midrand SPCA inspector Jerry Seemise and the SPCA’s general manager, inspector Pam Pretorius went to the site where they found a dog stuck in a palisade fence.

Armed with sunlight soap, the inspectors approached the poor pooch that was soaked through from being in the rain.

Pretorius applied some soap to the midsection of the dog, but the dog was truly stuck and the soap was not doing enough to get the dog loose from the fence.

Seemise headed back towards his vehicle to get his jack, while Pretorius continued to massage and gently wiggle the dog loose.

Just as Seemise returned, the dog suddenly slipped out of the palisade and it was running around freely once more.

Midrand SPCA took to social media to applaud its inspectors for a job well done. “Well done team and thank you for being there for the animals even in the cold and soaking rain,” said the SPCA.
