Three suspects were arrested by Midrand police for possession of stolen goods and a bribery attempt

“We are happy that we still have such cops who are not taking bribes to conceal crime as it affects everyone in South Africa," said the Midrand Station Commander.

Midrand police arrested three male suspects on March 24 for attempting to bribe police and for being in possession of suspected stolen goods.

According to Midrand Police Station Commander Brigadier Molefi David Tsotsotso, the suspects were arrested after they were stopped by the police and found to have their bakkie fully loaded with property which they could not give a satisfactory reason for the possession thereof.

“During preliminary investigation, the suspects took the police to nearby storage where they kept their [stolen] property, and a third suspect was arrested on his way driving out of the storage premises,” Tsotsotso said.

All goods recovered were taken to the Midrand police storage unit and the suspects were charged with possession of the suspected stolen property. One was charged with bribery as well after he tried to bribe the police with R6 900.

Tsotsotso applauded the officers for their swift response and always being vigilant while on patrol.
“We are happy that we still have such cops who are not taking bribes to conceal crime as it affects everyone in South Africa. The total value for all items is about R150 000.”
