Man found dead in Carlswald

CARLSWALD — A witness, who is the deceased's friend, told the police that he and the deceased and his other friend were going to a nightclub to have drinks.

The Midrand police received a call on February 19 from Radio Control 10111 regarding a person suspected to be dead inside a Blue VW Golf Rox vehicle on Carlswald New Road.

The police quickly drove to the scene and found a male, aged between 19 and 24, dead. According to Midrand Police Station Commander Colonel Hosea Mantji, a witness, who is the deceased’s friend, told the police that he and the deceased and his other friend were going to a nightclub to have drinks.

It is alleged that the two friends, later the same night, left the deceased in the car and in the morning found him dead with a gunshot wound, bleeding from the head.

“The firearm was found in the vehicle and the witness alleged that the firearm came with a known suspect. The suspect was then arrested and charged with murder,” said Mantji.
