Ria Sebetsa brings the power of CCTV to Midrand

MIDRAND — Halfway Gardens-based Ria Sebetsa Security Services has partnered with Vumacam to Activate Vumacam poles in strategic locations in Midrand.

There is no question that CCTV has proven to be a gamechanger when it comes to tackling crime, optimising response times, and taking criminals off the streets.

Halfway Gardens-based Ria Sebetsa Security Services has partnered with Vumacam to Activate Vumacam poles in strategic locations in Midrand.

In total, Ria Sebetsa will be monitoring 21 cameras, with each pole having both overview and licence plate recognition cameras (LPR).

The LPR cameras will be monitored via the proof platform with its intelligent software that alerts the 24-hour control room operators to investigate and dispatch the ground teams strategically and quickly.

“LPR cameras constantly check plates against multiple databases, including SAPS-listed stolen vehicles or vehicles linked to previous criminal activity,” stated Danny Maduray, CEO of Ria Sebetsa.

If a vehicle of interest passes a Vumacam they will be instantly flagged in Ria Sebetsa’s 24-hour control room providing the on-the-ground response team with a higher chance of successfully intercepting the vehicle before the person commits a crime in the Midrand area.

“The footage is viewed in our 24-hour control room via a centralised video management platform as monitoring live feeds effectively is impossible,” Maduray explained.

“Intelligent software tells our operators where and when to look in a single view which allows us to quickly assess, dismiss or escalate alerts from the cameras.”
When an alert is escalated in the control room, they transition to live situation management, where they are able to dispatch the right vehicle to the right place to investigate, assist or intercept vehicles of interest.

Ria Sebetsa’s control room will also alert Midrand police who will take suspects into custody should they intercept successfully.
