Midrand SPCA to the rescue

MIDRAND — According to the Midrand SPCA, it was evident that the bull was in a lot of pain and it caused the bull to become aggravated.

Midrand SPCA inspectors Jerry Seemise and Pam Pretorius were on the road on duty when Seemise spotted a bull limping in a nearby field.

Upon closer inspection, the team noted that the bull had suffered from a broken leg that had then been placed in a homemade splint. It was evident that the bull was in a lot of pain and it was causing the bull to become aggravated.

“We located the owner and informed him that immediate intervention was required,” said the SPCA in a statement.

At first, the owner was reluctant to allow the SPCA to humanely euthanase the bull to end its suffering. After the team had explained how much pain the bull was in, the owner realised the animal was suffering and allowed the SPCA to put it down.

Given the education that the team provided, several community members including the owner of the bull have seen the importance of reporting any injuries of animals to the SPCA and have vouched to contact them in future should any assistance be needed with their animals.

The SPCA also took to social media and thanked the inspectors for taking the time to educate and teach the community to trust them in helping with animals.
“A big thank you also goes out to ARN Security for once again coming to our aid.”
