APAAM call-out to all community-based theatre groups

JOBURG — Interested community-based theatre groups from all regions of Gauteng can request the application form from jessica.oliphant@wits.ac.za and sent it back before February 18.

Joburg City theatre’s Youth and Community Development in partnership with Drama for life is looking for community groups in Gauteng to join the three-year Applied Performing Art and Art Management Programme.

The programme aims to empower the youth artistically, develop their business skills and ensure that they create employment within their own communities.

The programme is outcome-based and encompasses business and artistically practical projects in which the participants will have to produce content, market their shows and organisations.

Moreover, the participants also have to develop an audience strategy, maintain proper business records, and administration as a tool for professional development.
Five theatre organisations from different regions in Gauteng will be selected through an audition process to participate in the three-year programme.

The programme has three levels over three years, with a combination of on-site workshops at Joburg City theatre and off-site for practical implementation and profile building.

Details: Interested community-based theatre groups from all regions of Gauteng can request the application form from jessica.oliphant@wits.ac.za and send it back before February 18.
