Vintage goods shop trader loves everything about Midrand Circles Market

GLEN AUSTIN — “If you persevere and love what you do, you will see results that you can build on,” said Gillian Clark, a trader at the Midrand Circles Market.

Gillian Clark the owner of Boho, a vintage goods shop at the Midrand Circles Market, has been trading at the market since it started.

Clark describes her vintage shop as uniquely special and different. “Everything I have for sale is something I have carefully chosen that I would love to have in my own home,” Clark said.

Clark explained Boho gives her the chance to pursue her love for everything vintage. “My home is not large enough to accommodate all the treasures I find. My passion is sourcing interesting items that people enjoy and appreciate. They might even bring back a pleasant memory of times gone by.”

She became a trader at the Midrand Circles Market because he thought it was a perfect location for visitors, particularly families. Visitors can relax in the tranquil gardens and browse local stalls for homemade and natural products on a Saturday morning at the market. She also believes the market has a lot of potential to attract tourists from farther away and become a destination market.

Clark remembers the first market in July 2019 where there were a total of six stallholders. “I spread paintings and other vintage goods over a large area so that the market did not look so empty. “It is wonderful to see how the market has grown. The support of the community is what has made the difference.”

She explained that she is attracted to the positive energy of the market and the traders who are like-minded, hard-working, and committed.
The market has grown significantly since its establishment and it is well organised and all traders abide by the rules. The traders appreciate that the organiser respects them and everyone gets along as it feels like a family to Clark.

Another passion of hers is gardening and he plans to introduce potted plants, garden herbs, and a range of essential oil goods. “It is tough to be a trader, you have to be resilient, hardworking, and determined. If you persevere and love what you do, you will see results that you can build on.”

What pleases Clark the most about the market is that it supports charities such as the SPCA, the Manderston’s Rescue Dog Fund, the Lions, and the Mercy Foundation. “I would love to see more charity drives at the market as many people like to support local initiatives that make a difference,” she concluded.
