14 arrested for driving under the influence

HALFWAY HOUSE – The arrested 14 suspects will be appearing at the Midrand Magistrates' Court.

Fourteen suspects have been arrested for drunken driving in Midrand.

The Midrand Police Station’s spokesperson, Constable Eliot Mabulane, said the arrests were made on January 29 during an operation O Kae Molao district roadblock. In addition, five fines were issued to liquor outlets for non-compliance.

Mabulane said the suspects would be appearing at Midrand Magistrates’ Court to face the charges against them.

The station commander Brigadier David Tsotsotso commended his members for arresting those in contravention with the national road traffic act

He said the arrests would serve as a warning to those that drive under the influence of alcohol especially because many lives get lost on the road due to driving under the influence.
