Locals play sports for a cause

HALFWAY HOUSE – Midrand Volleyball male side won 2–0 against Bazookas Volleyball, Midrand Volleyball lost 3–1 against KAD and in cricket, San Marino lost to Resident Team Players who took the game by four wickets and seven overs.

The Midrand Action Sports held a double sports championship which included volleyball and cricket in support of the ‘Day of Hope 4 Kyleigh Volley and Cricket 4 Kyleigh’ fundraising campaign on January 23.

In volleyball, 16 male teams, as well as four female teams, got in the action – all playing with one goal in mind, to help raise funds toward
13-year-old Kyleigh Kista’s urgent open-heart surgery which will be taking place soon in the United States of America.

After a long day of spikes and serving, the Midrand Volleyball Club’s men won by a score of 2–0 against the Bazookas Volleyball Club.

In women’s volleyball, KAD (Knowledge, Advocacy and Development) Volleyball Club took three points home, leaving the Midrand Volleyball Club’s women side with one point to console themselves.

In the cricket finals, San Marino Motors played against Resident Team Players for the champion T20 title.

San Marino batted first and posted a score of 42 runs in the T20 format RTP chased down the score of 42 runs to win in the 13th over winning by four wickets and seven overs to spare.
