A full house of passes for Beaulieu College saw staff and matriculants filled with excitement
The school achieved a 100% pass rate, with a 92% bachelor’s degree pass and 48% of learners attaining either an A or B aggregate.
Chloe van Driel achieved 89% overall and was in the top 5% in five subjects in the country.
“I am so happy with my results, I’m just praying it’s enough to get into the degree I want to do which is medicine at UCT.
“Doing matric during the pandemic last year was a challenge, but I think I took every day as a new opportunity. I tried my best to remain diligent and not let anything affect my academics too much,” she said.
Head of academics at the college, Jorge Ruiz-Mesa said he initially was concerned for the matric class and how they would get through the year with all the Covid-19 disruptions, but said they showed character and resilience.
“Seeing the results now, all the efforts that our teachers have put in is commendable. We had Friday afternoon and Saturday morning extra lessons for the learners, so we provided a lot of support because we were concerned.
“These results are a testimony that when we work together, our goals can be achieved. I would like to say thank you and congratulations on a job well done to them,” he said.
Kyalami Schools Group head of academics, Mark Naidoo echoed Ruiz-Mesa’s statements and added that he was impressed at how the Class of 2021 was able to hold their nerve throughout the year.
“Some of them have lost family members or have gone through personal battles, which makes this result even more special. We have compared these results to previous years, and they are as good as the results in 2019 before Covid.
“To the Grade 12 Class of 2022, your potential is limitless if you are willing to do the work. There is the potential, environment and tools you need, everything is set up for you to succeed,” he concluded.
