Roiii drops visuals to his single La Vida Loca

WATERFALL – The local artist said that the song was an anthem meant to keep them hopeful and give them momentum when they go to work.

Oratile Kgotso Kgobe known to many as Roiii recently released the video to his song La Vida Loca on January 14.

The Pretoria-born, Waterfall-based hip-hop musician shared insight into what inspired the kind of visuals he went for.

Kgobe said that having done a specific sound on the song [meaning the drill sound] they had to blend the visuals to align with the chosen sound.

He said that the visuals had to reflect how the song felt because when he did the song it was not about anything specific but just trying to make sure the image supports what was being said on the song.

“The track is about me and my brothers, we were in a dark space not doing too well financially, and had a lot of problems.

“I then wrote the song to encourage myself and my brothers because the lifestyle we were living was a little bit too fast for us.”

Kgobe explained that the song was meant to give them some energy and momentum to work harder and stay hopeful.

“The song is kind of like your favourite gym song. That song you play to get excited and build your energy up. I was doing that for my brothers in a sense so that when we go out and have work, we can play that song a lot because that is our anthem.”

Kgobe said that he wanted people to listen to the song and however it made them feel, let that be their experience, “I don’t want to put experiences in peoples heads or what I expect from them.

“I really think it is a lovely song and it is a go, get-up and jump-up song, therefore if people feel like that I would really appreciate it.”

When asked if any new music will come out soon, Kgobe said that this year was really looking like a year for an EP, therefore he was probably going to pull one out. “I am not too sure on the date but I can confirm that I will definitely try and drop a project.
