Thindisa made Christmas special for Rabie Ridge children

RABIE RIDGE – The local resident hopes to host the distribution every year or whenever the need arises as it puts smiles on the hearts of the kids.

Sanet Thindisa a resident in Rabie Ridge embarked on an initiative to make every child in the community feel special during Christmas time last year.

She initiated the pre-loved clothing distribution as a way of providing for the ‘in-need children’ that did not have a new outfit like others for the holidays.

“We have been going through really hard times as a country and as a community at large, and living in a financially burdened community like ours, it can only become more difficult to meet our daily basic needs,” said Thindisa.

In preparing for the distribution, Thindisa was assisted by her cousin Daniela Moore and her mother. They asked for clothes that were still in very good condition so that they could make them look even better and package them for Christmas. “We had over 80 kids attending the event and it was truly a blessed day for us all,” Thindisa said.

The donations included clothes, toys, party packs, and presents. “We also added games where the children could win presents for themselves and have some fun and added a meal and party pack as well.”

The distribution would not have been possible without the donations received from organisations such as Acts Christian Church, Hope Restoration Church, Rivers Church, Dulcie September Primary School, and community members and leaders.

Thindisa hopes to host the distribution every year or whenever the need arises as it puts smiles on the hearts of them and the children.

Last year she also created a Rabie Ridge girls drum majorette team in the community as a way to keep the girls in the community busy with something meaningful. It has been doing exceptionally well with a few public performances. “Our children are so fragile these days and I would implement whatever necessary to keep their minds positive and happy.”
