Mothers are encouraged to support the boy child

KYALAMI - The event aims to affirm, encourage and show support to sons and mothers.

A Midrand-based non-profit organisation that supports, inspires and uplifts young men in our communities – The 100 Advices Movement – will host an event for mothers and sons in Kyalami on 5 December.

The event will be in collaboration with Female Wave of Change, a movement dedicated to supporting and empowering women to be leaders in any given role, especially as nurturers of the future generation.

Sophia Sikhosana, founder of The 100 Advices Movement said, “The movement aims to embark on a journey of social impact, to introduce projects that challenge the society to believe that it takes a village to raise a child and collectively work to build a generation of young men who will be accountable [and have] respect and self-awareness.”

The event will affirm, encourage and show support to sons and mothers. Sikhosana added, “What drives us is the ever-rising number of boys without fathers, especially in the black community, we need to be part of the solution. The event will be a safe place for parents to hear a boy child’s perspective on today’s society, how he fits in and how a mother can support him.”

Speakers will include stage and screen actor Dr Jerry Mofokeng wa Makhetha, author Dr Bongiwe Tlalani, grief coach Neo Mabiletsa, author Yvonne Kgame, businessman Muzi Vilakazi and medical doctor Dr Lumka Maneli.

Details: Mothers and sons are invited to attend at a joint cost of R200 for both; any other people wishing to attend the event will pay R200 each. For more information on attendance and payments, call Sophia Sikhosana on 061 942 0421.
