Beaulieu learners walk 80km for mental awareness

BEAULIEU – Beaulieu College educator, Marjerie Raijmakers said that all funds accumulated will go to a mental health facility.

Beaulieu College recently held a walkathon to spread awareness about mental health and raise funds for a mental health facility.

Marjorie Raijmakers, an educator at the school in Midrand, said in times where mental well-being should be one of the top concerns amongst teens, the school wanted to raise as much awareness around this issue as possible.

She also added that as October was Mental Health Awareness Month, the Interact Club, under the leadership of educator Amy Naicker used this opportunity wisely.

“The walkathon has raised a substantial amount and the learners at Beaulieu College managed to do over 80kms during the walkathon,” she added.

Raijmakers concluded that the day was enjoyed by all and they would be donating the money raised to a mental health facility.
