The Basket Buddies development programme in Midrand is a basketball initiative that has about 30 children participating.

Basket Buddies, owned by Boitumelo Leshalabe and Reabetsoe Buys, focuses on basketball fanatics, boys and girls, aged six to 17.
“We play at Nizamiye School and Thatchfield sports grounds and will engage in a bigger competition with Junior National Basketball Association in the near future. The dates are to be confirmed in 2022,” said Leshalabe.

He added the beauty of basketball was that it was not just a game. “It sharpens a player’s decision making skills, coordination and emotional intelligence.”
He concluded, “We also offer emotional intelligence as a life skill programme, basketball themed parties and Basket Buddies will launch a league for Midrand Primary School in 2022.”
