Two suspects apprehended for fraud, possession and bribery

MIDRAND – Midrand Police Station commander Brigadier David Tsotsotso commended the team for their good behavior by remaining patriotic and refusing bribe money.


Midrand police arrested two male suspects for possession of suspected stolen property, fraud, and bribery on September 23.

According to the Midrand Police Station spokesperson, Constable Eliot Mabulane, the suspects were driving a silver Nissan X-Trail and allegedly breaking into motor vehicles around the area. They were spotted while changing registration numbers.

Mabulane said that during the arrest, two laptops believed to be stolen were recovered along with a car-jamming device and three pairs of gloves believed to be used during the commissioning of crime and housebreaking.

He added that the suspects allegedly bribed the police officers, even after being informed that bribery of police officials was a crime.

“The suspects [insisted] that the police take R1 000 for them to go free, however, our officers remained truthful and honoured the police badge by refusing to run the name of the police through the mud of corruption,” Mabulane explained.

“Further adding a charge of bribery. The suspects were detained at the Midrand Police Station cells.”

their job in refusing to be corrupted by criminals.

Tsotsotso also expressed his appreciation to the sector managers and the tracing team for keeping the area safe from crime, adding that this arrest will bring justice to those who fell victim to these suspects crimes.

“We strive for service delivery and, of course, quality where community matters are involved. We urge people to report any form of corruption to the police and work hand in hand with the police to fight crime,” Tsotsotso concluded.
