According to the school principal Ramzi Hasanli, it was an insightful and enriching visit during which Motshekga encouraged all learners to do their best in their exams.

Hasanli said the minister also motivated the learners to prevent toxic masculinity (the notion that some people’s idea of ‘manliness’ perpetuates domination, homophobia, and aggression) and advised them not to add value to material things but rather add value to themselves.

“The minister stressed upon the importance of working hard this year and never giving up on their goals,” he added.

“Motshekga pointed out that the true joy of educators is seeing their students achieve better in their lives and becoming persons of note in society.”

Hasanli thanked Motshekga on behalf of the school’s management, teachers and matriculants, adding that her visit was indeed insightful.

Khalifa Raji, the school’s head boy, said he was grateful that the minister took the time out of her busy schedule to visit them.

“Going into the exams, I would like to show dedication of the same level towards my studies and exams. I would like to note that what caught my attention more was the minister highlighting the importance of social cohesion,” he added.

Khalifa concluded that he learnt, from the minister’s speech, the importance of pursuing a life, not based on materialism, but rather a life based on values one learns in school as well as the ability to work with others as this would benefit society.
