Preschoolers give back during pyjama day

MIDRAND – Christ Chuch Preschool learners arranged the food donations in a beautiful heart shape to show their love and support to those less fortunate.

Little ones enjoyed a pyjama day while helping those less fortunate.

Christ Church Preschool held a pyjama day and food drive on August 6 where learners could bring in non-perishable food to donate to a local school in Midrand.

Dawn Schmitz, who is responsible for the school’s marketing, said the learners were asked to gather food items and bring them to school with them to help those less fortunate.

She added that around 60 items in total were donated and the recipients came and collected them from their Christ Church Preschool.

“The preschool learners enjoyed the pyjama day. Staff and learners alike arrived at school, warm and comfortable, in their favourite pyjamas and slippers. The day was also a food drive for one of the schools we have partnered with, who is part of the Love Trust, who form part of Christ Church Preparatory School and College’s outreach drive initiatives,” she said.

“Pupils arranged the food in a beautiful heart shape, to show their love and support to those less fortunate than themselves.”

Schmitz said the school principal and two deputy principals were invited to the preschool to see the beautiful ‘food art’ before it was packed for collection, as well as the lovely pyjamas the learners had worn on the day.

She concluded by thanking all the learners, parents and staff for the donations adding that they have made a difference in a child’s life.
