Olifantsfontein Child Protection Line launch gets under way

MIDRAND – Toys For Africa invites the community of Midrand, specifically the Olifantsfontein residents, to the launch of the Olifantsontein Child Protection Hotline.

Toys For Africa has invited the community of Midrand, specifically the Olifantsfontein residents, to the launch of the Olifantsontein Child Protection Hotline.

Danie van Loggerenberg, founder of Toys For Africa, said that the event would take place at the SanRidge Square Shopping Centre on August 12 at 10:00. He added that due to Covid-19, the event would only be an introduction and an explanation opportunity.

But most importantly, it would be the launch of the Olifantsfontien Child Protection Hotline. “We will have key stakeholders attending and our plans and ideas for the hotline outlined. This will be our 29th Child Protection Hotline and with every hotline we learn more, better our offering and streamline our free service.

“I think Olifantsfontein contains a few unique challenges – where they are over parts of Tembisa, as well as Midstream; from very poor to very rich. That is such a lovely description of our passion as well. We help children, we do not look at skin colour, religion or financial status. We believe every child matters and every child should know he or she has a voice and help is available,” Van Loggerenberg added.

Furthermore, with Covid-19, they will unfortunately not open the media introduction and launch to the general public. “But we would love to invite social workers to join us. Should a parent, teacher or child have any questions, the hotline will be available from the 12th to assist. If there is an urgent case that needs assistance, we invite anyone to make contact via email at report@childprotectionhotline.co.za or contact the Midrand number 060 820 9875 via SMS, WhatsApp or phone call.

“The most important benefit is that help is just a phone call or SMS or WhatsApp away. And we will listen to every child. No incident that has happened to a child, that violates a child’s rights is acceptable. We care and we have the team to assist. Save the number as an emergency number and know we are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” he concluded.
