Stallholders prepare for market

MIDRAND – Ward 132 councillor Annette Deppe said families could expect a fun family day for people to come out and enjoy on August 29.

The Midrand People’s Market held their last preparation meetings with their models and stallholders at the Waterfall Ridge Shopping Centre in Midrand ahead of the upcoming event.

Delegates and coaches from the market came together on August 21 with the finalist models and the fashion designers who would be clothing the models on the runway, practising and brushing up their skills ahead of the event. The following day, August 22, a showcase took place where stallholders displayed what they would be selling on the day of the market, August 29.

Ward 132 councillor Annette Deppe explained, on behalf of the executive team, that they wanted to make sure the models knew their routines and what they had to do on the day of the event. “Basically they have this week to practice. They are going to be fitting the designers’ clothes and if there are any final adjustments to be done, they will be done before Saturday next week and then Sunday is the show.

“All stalls have been booked out and we really would like to encourage people who are in the talent and the arts industry to come and see the young new talent from Midrand that are going to be exhibiting here on Sunday, August 29. We will be opening at 10:00 and closing at 16:00. The event is family-friendly, there will be a children’s corner, consisting of face painting and jumping castles for the children. There will be 20 stalls with stallholders exhibiting their goods and they can also expect the fashion show,” Deppe added.
