The department’s deputy director, Nelly Shongwe said their staff had been at the forefront of the vaccination campaign since it started on May 26.
Shongwe added that at this time of the year, it was very cold which was why they wanted to appeal to residents and businesses to donate refreshments to the 92 staff members working at Midrand Fire Station, Kanana Community Hall and Lord Khanyile Community Hall.

“These could be a cup of coffee and a muffin, a boerie roll and cooldrink and so forth. Local restaurants could also assist where they can by donating what they can to our staff at our different centres around Midrand,” she added.

She said as of July 21, 15 548 people in Region A had been vaccinated.
