Mofokeng is the new coach for the U11 and U13 players at Northerns Football Club and Kyalami Pinnacle College.
He started playing football at 10 years old in Alexandra. “We had the School of Excellence back then and through that I was fortunate to make it to their trials and joined the academy,” he said.

Mofokeng added that when he was 16, he was selected to the South Africa national U17 squad and in 2000, at the age of 18, he was recruited by Ajax Amsterdam in the Netherlands and played for the club for five years.

He said when he left Ajax Amsterdam, he returned to South African and played for a number of local clubs including Swallows, Sundowns and Bush Bucks.
He believed that when he was younger there were more opportunities for youngsters to join academies and develop their skills.

Mofokeng said the only way to create more opportunities for young players was if all the football clubs worked together to develop players.
“I just want to see them playing professional football. Our aim at the club is that we develop the players,” he concluded.
