Local security company help arrests an arm robbery suspect on Edison Crescent

Sandton Police Station officers arrested a 19-year-old male suspect for an alleged armed robbery which occurred in Edison Crescent, Sunninghill.

Sandton Police Station spokesperson, Captain Bheki Xulu said, “The robbery incident took place on 14 May at about 2.45pm in Sunninghill.

“The victim alleged that he was walking when two unknown males came behind him and one pointed a firearm at him.”

Xulu added, “One man had a knife and they demanded his cell phone and laptop and told him to lie on the ground.

“The suspects took the items and ran in different directions.”

He added that the victim chased one of the suspects and some community members joined in.

A local security company was called to assist and they caught the 19-year-old who was in possession of the victim’s cell phone valued at R5 000.

Xulu concluded that the suspect was arrested and charged for armed robbery while his accomplice was still at large.
