Dogs Trust cares for animals

DIEPSLOOT– Lee Ramalho, founder of Dogs Trust, said her organisation is in need of financial support to treat, feed and sterilise dogs receiving help from the organisation.

A non-profit organisation based in Midrand that takes care of neglected animals and educate pet owners about animal well-being, Dogs Trust, has appealed to members of the public and business community to help support the work it does.

Lee Ramalho, founder of Dogs Trust, said her organisation is in need of financial support to treat, feed and sterilise dogs receiving help from the organisation. “We are appealing to individuals and the business community out there to support the work we are doing. Dogs Trust, in association with the Society for Animals in Distress, often take on the mammoth task of doing 100 sterilisations in one week.

“The drives are called Snip and Chip outreach programmes. These outreach efforts are made possible and executed by the collective efforts of several individuals and organisations. Within seven days of hard work, our targets are reached, completing a total of 100 sterilisations in and around Diepsloot.”

Ramalho added that her organisation also assists injured dogs and cats with medical attention. “Besides the sterilisations, we also treat and medically assist animals with cases of Ehrlichia, biliary, coccidia, kennel cough, bladder infection, nose abscess, parvo puppies, a few dogs hit by cars and even cats.”
