City’s plans are in action

IVORY PARK – The City of Johannesburg's office of the executive Mayor, Geoff Makhubo's service delivery programme is said to be focused on repairing previously marginalised areas, which experienced a number of recurring service delivery issues.


City of Johannesburg officials embarked on a 120-day programme to provide integrated service delivery operations on 6 April in the Greater Ivory Park, ahead of its launch date on 13 April.

The programme saw different stakeholder of the government such as Pikitup, Johannesburg Roads Agency and the Citizen Relations and Urban Management, among other stakeholders, coming together to solve the service delivery needs of the people of Ivory Park.

According to the Region A citizen relationship assistant manager, Pierre Nel, for the duration of the programme officials will focus on the following:

• Potholes

• Illegal dumping

• Gravel roads levelling

• Resurfacing of roads

• Grass cutting

• Sewer spillage and blockages of pipes

• Pipes leakages

• Blocked storm water drains.

Nel added the programme was introduced by the office of the Executive Mayor Geoff Makhubo and forms part of reparations to previously marginalised areas, which have experienced a number of recurring service delivery issues.

He said that the programme would focus on a number of streets in Ivory Park Ext 2 which include Freedom Drive and 16 June Street as well as streets within the radius of the identified prioritised areas.

“Other issues include litter picking and law enforcement related issues,” Nel concluded.
