Cops search for five suspects

MAYIBUYE – According to the Rabie Ridge Police Station spokesperson, Sergeant Jacob Nhlongo, the complainant alleged that while driving his white Toyota Quantum he went on to park in front of his gate before calling his girlfriend to bring him his clothes when.


A minibus driver was hijacked on 20 April at about 9pm in Mayibuye.

According to the Rabie Ridge Police Station spokesperson, Sergeant Jacob Nhlongo the complainant claimed while driving his white Toyota Quantum, he went to park in front of his gate before calling his girlfriend to bring him some belongings.

Shortly after, Nhlongo said the victim’s sister came out the gate and five men approached her. They allegedly pointed a firearm at her and forced her to get inside the minibus.

“One suspect then hit him [complainant] with the barrel [of the gun] on his head and pushed him off the driver’s seat. They searched him and took his money and cell phone,” added Nhlongo.

Nhlongo said the suspects searched for the vehicle’s tracker, found it and removed it.

He said the victim and his sister were then dropped in Madelakufa Section in Rabie Ridge where they walked to the police station to report the incident.

“We are appealing to the community to always stay alert, especially during

the night.

“Anyone with information relating to such crimes may contact us on 011 310 0410 or 10111 so that we can arrest these suspects who are terrorising our community.”
