Woodrock Animal Rescue launches a charity shop at Ark Walk Park

CHARTWELL– Co-founder of Woodrock Animal Rescue, Estelle Meldau encouraged community members to visit the pop-up shelter and enjoy some time out with dogs on weekends.

One of the oldest, non-profit and pro-life domestic animal rescue centres in South Africa launched a charity shop and pop-up adoption shelter at Ark Walk Park in Chartwell on 24 April.

Woodrock Animal Rescue assists homeless, abused, neglected, stray, injured, ill, geriatric and unwanted animals that would otherwise have miserable lives and die prematurely.

“Our animal pop-up shelter that we are launching today will give members of the public a chance to come and have a great time with dogs that they can adopt. We also help teach people understand how dogs behave and advise them on what they can do to keep their dogs healthy and happy. Our pop-up shelter will be opened every Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm,” Meldau said

Founder of Ark Animal Centre that was closed last year, Tracy Otto urged the Fourways community to support the charity shop. “We call on community and members of the community to donate unwanted goods for our newly launched charity shop.

“The funds that will be raised through selling donated goods will be used to sterilise animals and take care of their needs. Our partners, Woodrock also launched a pop-up adoption centre in which they will have puppies every weekend for the public to come visit and also apply for adoption.”

Otto concluded, “We also have cafés that caters for dogs and humans while children can play in a kid’s imagination park inside our premises. Visitors can also enjoy a 2km walk with their dogs.”
