Witnesses needed to assist in solving double murder case

KAALFONTEIN – Ivory Park Police spokesperson, Captain Bernard Matimulane appealed to community members to assist them in solving a double murder case.

The Ivory Park police are asking for assistance from anyone with information regarding two murder incidents during which two men who are neighbours were fatally shot on 28 March.

Ivory Park Police Station spokesperson Captain Bernard Matimulane said the two men were shot dead by one of the five occupants of a white vehicle after a short argument. He added that it was reported that the first victim was driving in his vehicle when he apparently bumped into a pedestrian.

After stopping with the intention of inquiring whether the affected pedestrian was injured or not, he was then shortly approached by five men and an argument ensued. “It is not yet clear as to what the argument was all about, but the 49-year-old man was shot twice, once on the head and then the chest.

He died on the scene.”The second victim was driving past the scene when he apparently noticed his neighbour’s vehicle.” Matimulane said the man stopped to find out what was happening with his neighbour and another argument ensued.

The second victim was shot in the waist and succumbed to his injuries shortly afterwards at a local clinic. He added that all of the men, including the pedestrian bumped by the first victim, climbed into the car and left the scene.

After learning of the horrendous murders, the Ivory Park Police Station Commander, Brigadier David Mbongeni Ngcobo, expressed shock, and said that he strongly believes that there must have been someone at the scene who might have witnessed the incident.

“We humbly request anyone with information, however little they think that information is, to please come forward in order to assist us in bringing the perpetrators to justice.”
