Botshabelo asks community to support Adopt-A-Cot initiative

MIDRAND – Botshabelo calls on the community take part in their Adopt-A-Cot initiative.

Botshabelo has called on the community to join their Adopt-A-Cot initiative.

Director of fundraising Jessica Smith said, “It has now been one year since the president announced the coronavirus pandemic. In one day, many adjustments and changes took immediate effect for families and businesses.

For Botshabelo Babies Home, no matter the regulations or realities of the pandemic, the doors of the home never shut.” Director of care at the organisation Nicky Martin said that 24/7 and 365 also mean 525 600 minutes of miracles and moments to celebrate.

“Learning to roll over, sitting up, getting the first tooth, or learning to walk are just things we get to enjoy.” She added, “It is also the excitement of having new babies arrive. Just like our latest two, a little boy and a girl, who joined us a couple of days ago. We are so overjoyed and smitten by these cute and lovely bundles of joy. We are happy to be part of their journey, nurturing them into healthy and strong toddlers.”

Smith said, “It is never easy because most of the babies arriving in the babies home are premature. Which means they need a lot of medical testing in the beginning. Their risk of getting sick is increased. And they might need special formula and occupational therapy.”

The organisation is calling on the local community to join them in assisting their babies in need through their Adopt-A-Cot. Smith said that community members can take part by donating as little as R100 per month.

“Regular reporting is keeping the donor updated about therapy progress and general development about the baby. You can make a huge difference in their lives with this monthly contribution.”
