Deputy principal of academics at the school Dr Camy Reddy said, “The past year has been unprecedented due to Covid-19 and lockdown. The school had been closed from 18 March to the end of May last year. Our matrics came back in June, we worked out a special timetable for them so that we could put in the maximum amount of work in a day so we could complete the syllabus.

Midrand High School matrics Kaylyn Ganesan, Tyrell Byrne and Faiz Sallie. Kaylyn says their teacher did an incredible job last year to prepare them for the examinations during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Our teachers have done extremely well. I don’t think these incredible results with a 98 per cent pass rate could have been achieved without them… I’m glad that our teachers were able to pull it off and our students worked so incredibly hard. I’m very proud of all our students.”

Khanyisile Buthelezi was the school’s top achiever with an incredible seven distinctions in English, IsiZulu, maths, life orientation, business studies, life sciences and physical sciences. She achieved an average of 86 per cent.
