Midrand police urge residents to keep documents safe

MIDRAND – Midrand police are calling on business and homeowners to have the relevant information to assist in robbery investigations.

Midrand police are urging the local community and businesses to collect important information about their employees to assist investigations.

Spokesperson for the station Constable Elliot Mabulane said the police have seen a rise in cases of house and business robberies and are calling on the community to become more vigilant.

Mabulane added, “In most cases, employers open cases of theft in their homes and businesses in which they accuse the employees.

“During the process of the investigation and questioning, such suspected persons are nowhere to be found for questioning and it is indeed hurting the investigation process.

“We advise employers to do background checks and have full documentation of their employees so they are traceable. We also urge the community not to opt in opening false cases for insurance purposes as they will be charged with perjury.”
