ICYMI: Midrand police celebrate convictions for possession of drugs and shoplifting

MIDRAND – One person was convicted for shoplifting and nine people for the possession of drugs.

Midrand police were proud to announce that they had secured a number of convictions for possession of drugs and shoplifting in January.

Spokesperson for the station Constable Elliot Mabulane said, “The Midrand police are committed to ensure safety and security of every person within the community.”

He added that one person was convicted for shoplifting and nine people for the possession of drugs. For the drug convictions, four were fined R2 000 or 20 days in prison, three were fined R1 000 or 10 days in prison and two were convicted and fined R300 and R500.

“Midrand police social crime prevention urges the youth to stay away from any illegal activities as it endangers their careers and opportunities… We urge youth to go back to their roots in respecting their parents, the law and doing what is right that will make their community proud.”
